Somers, Montana is a small, unincorporated community in Flathead County, although the population is growing. As of 2010, about 1,100 people lived here, which was double the population from ten years earlier. Children attend the Somers Lakeside School District for elementary and middle school, and older students will attend Flathead High School is Kalispell. Somers is also conveniently located near other major Montana communities: Kalispell is 10 miles northwest, Bigfork is 10 miles east, and Whitefish is 25 miles north.

Visitors will have no shortage of things to see and do in Somers despite the community’s small size. During the warmer months, paddle boarding is popular at Spoke and Paddle and Paddle Board Outfitters, and fishing tours are available through Hooked On Montana. Residents who need a cup of coffee know to stop in at Sudden Rush Espresso, while those who have a sweet tooth that needs to be satisfied may prefer a trip to Pink Hippo Sweets. There are also a variety of unique restaurants in Somers, including Vista Linda Mexican, Cowboy Up Country Cookin’, and Del’s.

With varied weather conditions with each season, it is important that Somers residents prepare for anything in terms of the weather. The winter season is arguably the most dangerous, as temperatures often plummet below freezing. Add these low temperatures with about 55 inches of total snowfall each year and you’ll get dangerous conditions both indoors and outdoors. Somers residents need to invest in the right heat pump, boiler, or furnace to stay safe.

Fortunately, the spring and summer seasons give residents a reprieve from those chilly conditions. In fact, the summer can be downright hot, as temperatures often surpass 80 degrees Fahrenheit. To cool off, residents may wish to retreat indoors and relax in the central air conditioning. Periodic maintenance of these systems with a reputable HVAC technician will also ensure that they work properly when required.
